Intermission

Intermission is a bar, movie theater, and small restaurant rolled into one. It was created to bridge the gap between the past and present—to bring the grand experience of a night out to see a film nearly 100 years ago back to life. The branding, interior, and menu selections revolve around the 1920s—a time of excess and the prohibition. The theater is intended to be a new addition to the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The Mark

The Mark

The main mark for Intermission was inspired by the classic red curtains that we often see in movie theaters.

Scaled Mark

The mark is scalable, becoming a simplified icon at sizes less than .75".

The interior of Intermission includes marble countertops, dark-stained cherry wood tables, and accents of black, cream, and gold.

Custom Wallpaper

Custom Wallpaper

In addition to the interior elements that contribute to the overall brand, I created a custom wallpaper using elements of the main mark.

Exterior Signage

Simple exterior signage containing the mark on a matte black background can be seen from the street.

Designed to be used by guests while they are seated in the theater, the black background keeps light pollution to a minimum. Orders are placed directly through the app and delivered to guests at any time during the film.
